One Wrexham signing has come in for high praise, but a key problem with the player has been highlighted.
Wrexham have had a very active summer transfer window and are expected to make another signing soon.
A potential £8m deal for Callum Doyle of Manchester City is now reportedly close to completion.
More players are linked with a potential move before the September 1 deadline, including Cardiff City’s Calum Chambers.
So far, before Doyle is confirmed, nine players have arrived at the Racecourse Ground; one of them has received a mixed verdict from an EFL pundit.

Wrexham have signed ‘exceptional finisher’
Last week, Wrexham signed Nathan Broadhead in a deal worth an initial £7.5m from Ipswich Town.
Broadhead had a quiet debut outing, coming off the bench after an injury to Josh Windass in the West Brom defeat.
Now, Ali Maxwell has shared his verdict on the attacker and claimed that he is ‘one of the most exceptional finishers’.
However, he also brought up Broadhead’s injury record and how that has seen him struggle to complete full seasons during his career.
Speaking on the Not The Top 20 podcast, he said: “We saw their new signing Nathan Broadhead, who they signed from Ipswich late last week for around £7.5m rising to £10m.
“There’s absolutely no doubt in my mind that they’ve massively overpaid for a 27-year-old who was coming into the last year of his contract, and who the most minutes he’s ever played in one season in his career is about 2590. So he’s really almost never played more than about half a season’s worth of football because he has been hard done by, by his hamstrings in particular, by other muscle injuries.
“But who is, let’s be very clear, one of the most exceptional finishers that we’ve covered in the last five, six, seven years, and that’s not just his time in Ipswich, but Sunderland, even on loan at Burton, I remember him catching the eye.”
Nathan Broadhead injury record
In the 2024/25 Premier League season, Broadhead featured 18 times in the league for a total of 697 minutes.
He missed five games because of a hamstring problem that season, while his longest spell on the sidelines came at Sunderland.
| Injury | Days out | Season |
| Hamstring | 36 | 24/25 |
| Thigh | 4 | 23/24 |
| Hamstring | 102 | 21/22 |
Wrexham have had a couple of injury issues in their frontline already this term in Kieffer Moore and Windass, and they’ll be hoping Broadhead doesn’t pick up a knock anytime soon.
