Wrexham decided to send Paul Mullin out on loan for the 2025/26 season.

Wrexham have made big changes to their squad this summer, and Paul Mullin became surplus to requirements.

In turn, Mullin has moved to Wigan Athletic for the ongoing campaign and will return to the Racecourse Ground next year with 12 months still left on his contract.

Wrexham lost to West Brom on Saturday afternoon, shipping three goals to suffer a very rare home defeat.

Wigan, on the other hand, fared much better during their outing on August 16.

Paul Mullin features for Wigan Athletic vs Peterborough United

Wigan played a home league meeting against Peterborough United at 3pm BST on Saturday.

The Posh, for those who aren’t familiar, are managed by former Wrexham player Darren Ferguson.

Ferguson did not have the best afternoon, however, as the Latics found themselves 2-0 up after just 28 minutes on August 16.

Mullin, as has been the case in all of Wigan’s league games this season, started on the bench.

He came on in the 81st minute of the tie to help see out the win. Here is how he fared.

Paul Mullin’s first goal since leaving Wrexham

Prior to facing Peterborough, Wigan were in Carabao Cup action on Tuesday evening.

They faced off with Wrexham’s old rivals Notts County, winning the fixture 1-0.

Mullin scored his first goal for Wigan in that clash, netting from the penalty spot after 10 minutes.

Manager Ryan Lowe praised the Wrexham loanee after that game despite confusion around the spot-kick.
