Lionel Messi has included Wrexham as one of 10 places across the UK to be part of his recently launched scavenger hunt.
The profile of the town has grown exponentially since Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds bought the football club in 2021.
Wrexham stars shot a Super Bowl advert with Channing Tatum earlier in 2025 and their global profile has continued to rise.
The ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ documentary launched by their Hollywood owners has opened up a completely new world and audience for the small town in Wales.
Countless A-list celebrities have visited the Racecourse Ground in the last four years and paid visits to the local area.
Actor Paul Rudd was spotted in Wrexham’s famous Turf pub in April 2023 prior to watching the club in action.
More recently, there was a nod to the Red Dragons in the recently released Black Mirror trailer.
Now, Lionel Messi is the latest big name to show some love to Wrexham following the launch of his recent scavenger hunt.

Wrexham part of Lionel Messi UK scavenger hunt
Messi is now promoting his new hydration drink, Más+, and to do this, he has launched a scavenger hunt across the UK.
Wrexham now have one of the ten SPAR stores across the UK where special bottles will be hidden.
The bottles in question will be signed and come with a year’s supply of Más+ and exclusive merchandise.
One of the 10 bottles also comes with a trip to Inter Miami to watch the Argentine in action.
Messi commented on the scavenger hunt, as per Leader Live. He said: “Both in football and in any challenge, the motivation to achieve the goal is what drives everyone, so I hope the hunt brings excitement to those who are always striving for their own moments of success, now powered by Más+.
“Good luck to everyone searching, and I hope to see the winner in the stands in Miami soon.”

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds inspire Lionel Messi Disney+ series
Four and a bit years ago, it seemed unlikely Wrexham would be included as one of the 10 towns able to win the prize.
But their North American owners have transformed the town and football club, with McElhenney and Reynolds’ success inspiring Messi to launch a show of his own on Disney+.
The South American has a new animated series called ‘Messi and the Giants’, which will premiere on the Disney Channel before streaming on Disney+ worldwide.
The show will launch in 2025 but an official release date is yet to be confirmed.
