Ollie Palmer has been reminiscing about his time at Wrexham, and picked out the best moments he has experienced with the Red Dragons during his time in Wales.

Sadly, we may never see Ollie Palmer turning out for Wrexham again, with the veteran striker potentially on the move this summer.

Palmer’s role in the Wrexham squad will be one of the key focuses during the club’s pre-season tour of Australia. If he gets game time Down Under, there’s still hope for the future, but that is unlikely at this stage.

Still, Palmer will depart as a bona fide Wrexham legend, and he’s spoiled for choice when thinking about his favourite moments at the club.

Ollie Palmer reminisces on his fondest memories at Wrexham

Ollie Palmer was told not to join Wrexham initially, but he has no regrets about making the move. Discussing his most treasured highlights from the last three-and-a-half years in a deep dive into the club’s historic third-successive promotion, Palmer reflected on his debut.

He said: “I walked out onto the pitch the evening before the game [when I signed], but walking out before a game was a totally different experience. The atmosphere was unbelievable.

“To score on your debut and to win 1-0 was very special and it’s up there with my top five favourite moments at the football club. I think everything from there snowballed.”

Palmer has clearly enjoyed his stint with Wrexham regardless of how it ends, and the journey with the Red Dragons has had a profound effect on the veteran striker.

He added: “My back shivers again because I think about what the town has been through and what the club has been through… You strip it back to the relegations out of the Football League, the club nearly going bust, the fans that saved the football club from becoming extinct.

“I think there’s so much to tell about the story of this football club, and it brings everyone together. Mostly the players come from working class backgrounds and that’s why it’s so easy to connect with the football club and this working class community full of amazing people.”

When asked for his ultimate moments in a Wrexham shirt, Palmer said: “I think I’d have to go with the debut goal, the goal against Chesterfield, the lob.

“Getting promoted from League Two and League One is obviously incredible and we’ve made history doing that, but I feel like getting promoted out of the National League, that season was insane.”

Where could Ollie Palmer go next?

If Palmer does leave Wrexham this summer, he will likely have a plethora of options for his next club. The man himself is keen on a move abroad, specifically to the MLS.

We previously outlined a number of clubs that could sign Ollie Palmer this summer, including Vancouver Whitecaps; the link to Ryan Reynolds and Canada would, of course, be ideal.

Closer to home, though, there’s every chance Palmer will follow Paul Mullin’s example and drop to League One. It would make a lot of sense for one of his former clubs to snap him up, most likely on loan, with both Leyton Orient and AFC Wimbledon needing a new striker ahead of the new season.
