Having been a linchpin in Wrexham’s rise through the Football League, it’s sad to see Ollie Palmer barely featuring this season, but there are plenty of options for the next step in his career.
Ollie Palmer, along with Paul Mullin, fired in an abundance of goals in the National League and League Two to help Wrexham climb the footballing ladder.
For one reason or another, be it fitness, form, or competition for places, Palmer has fallen out of favour in League One this season and has been notably absent from the last 17 matchday squads in the league.
We’re led to believe Palmer (and Mullin) will be allowed to leave at the end of the season as the club prepares to step up to the Championship.
He may only have three goals to his name this term, but Palmer surely has a lot more still to offer, and here’s where we think the 33-year-old striker could go in the summer.

Where will Ollie Palmer go if he leaves Wrexham this summer?
Leyton Orient
Palmer made 73 appearances for Leyton Orient between 2015 and 2017, scoring 14 goals before he moved on to Lincoln City.
Orient are pushing for promotion as well this season and currently occupy the final play-off spot. Naturally, if they were able to get out of League One this year, they probably wouldn’t be looking at Palmer, but if they fail, they’ll surely fancy taking him back.
They currently have Charlie Kelman firing in the goals this season, but he’s only on loan from QPR, so they’ll need a new striker in the summer. We’d be very surprised if this wasn’t at least one of the options on the table for Palmer.
Cardiff City
A controversial one here, but Palmer may want to stay close to Wales given his clothing business is so intrinsically linked to Wrexham and that part of the world. So, what better way to stick around than to jump ship and head to Cardiff?
The Bluebirds are dropping down to League One after an abysmal campaign in the Championship, and they’ll likely need to rebuild their squad, as well as finding a new permanent manager.
Moving to the Welsh capital makes a lot of sense in terms of logistics for Palmer, and he’s exactly the kind of proven striker they’ll need in the third tier. The only issue is whether the player himself would want to play for a Welsh rival, but we’re sure he would be forgiven.

Vancouver Whitecaps
If Palmer would rather get as far away from Wrexham as possible, he could jet off across the Atlantic and join an MLS team, with Vancouver Whitecaps the most suitable option.
Given Wrexham’s incredible popularity in America (and Canada) thanks to the connection with Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Palmer would be treated like an absolute superstar out there if he moved to the MLS.
Wrexham have played the Whitecaps before in a pre-season friendly, so the Canadian team know all about Palmer, and it would be a great PR move by them to snap him up, as well as a decent payday for the big man.
