Wrexham ace George Dobson has heaped praise on one teammate he is keen to learn from this season.
It has been a rocky start to the 2025/26 Championship season for Wrexham, with the Red Dragons suffering two successive defeats in the league.
Wrexham have demonstrated their ability to compete at this level, having lost both games by just one goal, but there is still much room for improvement, particularly defensively.
Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson was unhappy defensively with his side against West Brom, which saw the Red Dragons fall to a 3-2 defeat.
Despite the shortcomings in defence, Parkinson’s side showed plenty of promise in attack, whilst the new-look Wrexham midfield also showed its strength. Wrexham central-midfielder George Dobson has started both Championship games for the Red Dragons, and he already knows that he is set to learn from one ‘quality’ signing made by owners Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds.

Wrexham star George Dobson hands recognition to Lewis O’Brien following West Brom defeat
Red Dragons owners Rob Mac and Ryan Reynolds gave Phil Parkinson a sizeable financial backing this summer, which allowed him to bolster Wrexham’s squad ahead of the Championship season significantly.
It was made clear that Lewis O’Brien was a key target for Wrexham, a midfielder with a wealth of experience at Championship level.
Since he made his debut in the away trip to Southampton, he has already shown his worth for the Red Dragons, with fellow midfielder George Dobson witnessing his quality first hand.
“He’s a top quality player,” Dobson said of O’Brien, via the BBC.
“You can tell why he’s played at a high level and the way he manoeuvres the ball in tight positions.
“His athleticism of being able to cover such high distances – it’s something for me to look at and help improve my game.
“I’m really enjoying playing alongside him and long may it continue.”

Wrexham have the experience to emerge successfully from their tricky spell
Whilst alarm bells may be ringing for some Red Dragons supporters after two successive Championship defeats, it is worth remembering that Wrexham have made several shrewd signings this season, bringing in players with not only vast quality, but experience as well.
The likes of Lewis O’Brien, Kieffer Moore and Josh Windass, to name a few, already know how to steer the ship in the Championship. All it takes is time for the players to fully gel into the ranks and the Red Dragons will have lift off.
It is also worth knowing that Wrexham have been dealt a tricky run of fixtures to kick off their Championship season, but that should turn this weekend as they host a troubled Sheffield Wednesday.
