George Dobson has come in for high praise this week, but his long-term role in Wrexham’s starting eleven has been questioned.
Despite all the new arrivals in North Wales this summer, Phil Parkinson has kept faith in George Dobson.
The manager has been rewarded for his decision, with Dobson ‘stepping up’ and playing every minute of Championship football so far this season.
However, while the midfielder has been excellent this term, one journalist has suggested he will lose his place in the team over the long term.

Four players better than George Dobson
Nathan Salt has been discussing Wrexham’s midfield on the Rob Ryan Red podcast this week.
Ollie Rathbone has returned from injury and is now back in the Championship squad ahead of Stoke City.
When speaking about Rathbone and how he fits into the team moving forward, Salt suggested that Ben Sheaf, Lewis O’Brien, Josh Windass and Nathan Broadhead will be the core of Wrexham’s central midfield threat moving forward.
He said: “The way I’m looking at it, though, in the longer term is like I said, I think it’ll be Sheaf, O’Brien, Broadhead, Windass.
“I think that they are just the four technically better players, but you would have to say that Dobson’s been one of the revelations of the season so far.”

George Thomason has become forgotten man at Wrexham
It’s not just the midfielders mentioned above that Dobson is competing with this season.
Wrexham signed George Thomason from Bolton Wanderers over the summer, but he has hardly featured.
Thomason was injured early in the campaign, eventually making his Championship debut from the bench in the 3-2 win over Norwich City.
However, the 24-year-old has not featured in the Dragons’ last three league matches.
Thomason commented on his injury last month. He said: “It’s been a frustrating time after getting injured really quickly after signing, but I’m feeling good, fit and healthy, and I’m really buzzing to be back in amongst the group.”
