Wrexham fans are yet to catch a glimpse of summer signing George Thomason, but he may soon be in Championship action.

Phil Parkinson wanted midfield additions this summer, and three of Wrexham’s 13 signings were midfielders.

Lewis O’Brien joined before Ben Sheaf signed for Wrexham on transfer deadline day.

The first midfield addition of the summer saw Wrexham raid Bolton Wanderers for George Thomason’s signature.

Phil Parkinson teases George Thomason’s Wrexham return

Wrexham snapped up Thomason for £1.2million as Parkinson snatched Bolton’s captain in his fourth summer deal.

Thomason has almost become the forgotten man from Wrexham’s summer business, as he has yet to make his competitive debut for the club.

The 24-year-old picked up an injury problem in pre-season and has been prevented from featuring in Wrexham’s Championship campaign.

The first international break of the season is now over, and Parkinson appears to have hope that Thomason will be back soon.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Parkinson admitted that Thomason has been back in training this week.

Parkinson noted that Wrexham fans haven’t seen Thomason in action yet, but believes the fanbase will see a ‘good player’ in action soon.

“George Thomason, who our supporters haven’t seen at all yet, it was kind of an innocuous injury, but he’s a good player, and it’s been great to see him back out with the boys this week,” he added.

George Thomason has enjoyed his own incredible rise

Much is made of Wrexham’s rise through the leagues, having won three straight promotions, accelerating from the National League to the Championship in rapid fashion.

It’s perhaps fitting that Thomason joined Wrexham, then, as he has been on a remarkable journey of his own.

Released by Blackpool as a teenager, Thomason decided to go straight into senior football by dropping down into non-league football with Longridge Town.

Bolton spotted his potential and handed Thomason a chance in League Two, but still sent him back down to non-league with Bamber Bridge.

Thomason really took his chance when it came and established himself as a top League One midfielder while captaining the Trotters.

Thomason has continuously adapted at each level on his rise, and he will look to prove himself once again as the real start of his Wrexham career looms.
