A former Wrexham player has struggled to find a club during the 2025 summer transfer window.

The EFL deadline for Wrexham to sign players ended on September 1, but free agents are still available.

On that front, the Red Dragons have released a number of players, most of whom ended up finding new clubs this summer.

Wrexham terminated George Evans’ contract on Monday so he could sign for Burton Albion on a free.

Mark Howard has moved to Salford City, and Sam Dalby signed for Bolton Wanderers after deciding against penning fresh terms with the Dragons.

But one former Wrexham ace has been without a club for 63 days following his latest release.

Former Wrexham player Anthony Forde without club

Last week, Jordan Davies signed for Fleetwood Town after spending the summer training with the PFA.

Davies had been playing alongside former Wrexham ace Anthony Forde in their pre-season squad.

Wrexham released Forde at the end of the 2025 winter transfer window, terminating his contract so he could find a new side.

The wide man eventually signed for Burton Albion in League One in February 2025.

After that deal was confirmed, Rob Mac reacted to the Forde transfer on social media, writing: “This is wonderful news. You’ve got yourselves a killer on the pitch and a gem of a human being. He will leave it all out there for you. Congrats Anthony and @burtonalbionfc !!!!!”

Forde went on to make 11 appearances for the Brewers in the second half of last season. He did not score or provide an assist.

However, he was only signed to a short-term deal and left Burton at the end of June 2025.

Now, the latest PFA squad announcement has revealed that Forde remains involved, making it 63 days since he was last under contract.

Forde joined Wrexham from Oxford United in July 2022 for an undisclosed transfer fee.

He played 31 times and scored three goals during the season they won promotion from the National League.

Forde then made 18 appearances across all competitions as the Dragons finished second in League Two.

Last season, though, he only lined up on four occasions for Wrexham, with all of those outings coming in the EFL Trophy.
