Wrexham star James McClean has issued a statement about his time at the Welsh club so far.
Wrexham have achieved promotion to the Championship at the first time of asking. That now makes it back-to-back-to-back promotions for Phil Parkinson’s side, who have sailed through the lower leagues of the EFL after emerging from the National League, and now find themselves in the second tier next season.
Several players have played a crucial role, including Wrexham Player of the Season Ollie Rathbone, as well as Max Cleworth, who has earned praise from Parkinson.
Another man who has played a crucial role this season is James McClean, a ‘tremendous’ and experienced pair of legs who has adapted brilliantly to Parkinson’s set-up.
After promotion to the Championship, McClean has spoken about his time at Wrexham.

It is safe to say that spirits are high at the Racecourse Ground at the moment, with promotion still fresh in the memory of all the players and fans.
Such a brilliant season for Wrexham will stand out as a highlight for many players in the squad, including McClean, who, despite notching several seasons of Premier League football, has truly found his happy place in North Wales.
“It’s easy to say now, but it’s true: this is the most enjoyable time of my career,” said McClean when speaking to the BBC.
“I’ve been honoured to play 150-odd Premier League games and 103 international caps but it’s about winning things and enjoying winning things being remembered – and that’s what I’m doing here, and I’m loving every minute of it.”
McClean’s happiness at the club has certainly translated into his abilities on the pitch, with the Irishman being a key factor behind the team being able to push all the way to automatic promotion to the Championship.

When looking at McClean’s stats for the 2024/25 League One season, per SofaScore, it is clear that the impact he has made this season is tangible.
With seven assists to his name, his creativity has certainly won several points for Wrexham this season, whilst also notching four crucial goals as well.
However, what goes unnoticed at times is his defensive ability. With 3.3 balls recoveries, 1.7 tackles, and 1.6 clearances per game on the left flank, on top of a success rate of 56% in duels, his work at the back almost mirrors the importance of what McClean can offer in the final third.
Despite his age, McClean can certainly remain a key part of Wrexham’s side next season as they look to battle it out in the Championship.
