James McClean will reach an impressive Wrexham milestone if he makes an appearance against Stoke City this weekend.

Wrexham travel to Stoke City for their first Championship fixture following the October international break.

Sam Parkin predicts defeat for Phil Parkinson’s side, who began the weekend 18th in the second tier and 13 places behind the Potters.

Ryan Longman is likely to start at left-wing-back against Stoke, but if McClean comes on against his former side, he will achieve an impressive feat.

James McClean can make 100th Wrexham appearance vs Stoke City

McClean has already featured on 99 occasions for the Red Dragons, meaning his next outing will see him reach the century mark.

The 36-year-old has enjoyed a prolific career in the Premier League and EFL, already notching 100 outings for three other clubs.

One of them was Wrexham’s upcoming opponents, Stoke, for whom he scored 12 and assisted 19 in 111 matches.

McClean has made the most appearances for Wigan Athletic (171), while he also surpassed a century of outings during his time with West Bromwich Albion (112)

James McClean facing heavy competition at Wrexham

Wrexham signed the Irishman from Wigan in 2023, and he’s proven to be a fantastic addition, scoring eight and assisting 23.

McClean has shone during 2025/26 so far, but his minutes have been reduced and may decrease further in the coming weeks.

Longman has started Wrexham’s last four Championship matches, with the former Stoke man appearing off the bench.

However, Liberato Cacace is back in training after an injury lay-off and is expected to play regularly once he’s fully fit.

But even if he does not earn that many minutes moving forward, McClean is a great leader and his impact on the dressing room cannot be underestimated.
