Wrexham are chasing another promotion under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, leaving Kaitlin Olson proud of the progress.

Here we go then; Wrexham head into one of the biggest games of the season on Thursday night.

Birmingham City arrive at the STōK Cae Ras for a top of the table clash between two sides with Championship aspirations.

Wrexham lost 3-1 at Birmingham earlier in the season and Phil Parkinson will be seeking a better out come.

Wrexham must hit back after losing at Shrewsbury Town last week and all eyes will be on the STōK Cae Ras.

Celebrity involvement is high and Ryan Reynolds wants to beat Birmingham’s Tom Brady having tested defeat once already this term.

Kaitlin Olson on Wrexham

Wrexham have already achieved two promotions in a row and a third would be a remarkable achievement.

Reynolds wants to become a Premier League club and shared his idea of being a ‘unique’ top-flight side.

McElhenney is fiercely ambitious too and his step into football has seriously impressed his wife and ‘It’s Always Sunny In Phiadelphia’ co-star Kaitlin Olson.

McElhenney and Reynolds purchased Wrexham for £2million in 2021 and the club has been on an upward trajectory ever since.

Olson has now told Times Radio that she and her whole family have become so invested in Wrexham.

We can forgive Olson for calling a Wrexham game an ‘episode’ as she shared her pride in McElhenney’s success.

Olson called McElhenney’s idea to take over Wrexham as ‘unbelievable’ but also loved shining the spotlight on the Wrexham community thanks to ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

“I’m very invested in Wrexham, both the town and the team – my whole family is,” said Olson.

“We just went and watched an episode live at this venue that’s called Shared Reality in Los Angeles, where we were able to watch it as though we were there and that was really cool, I plan to do that multiple times.

“We go back as often as possible, Rob more than me, but I’m just so proud of this team and they’re still doing so well. It’s crazy, I’m mostly proud of my husband for thinking of such an unbelievable idea and way to grow this club but also the community and give back to the community and support it.

“What a blessing, it’s just part of our family now,” she added.

Ryan Reynolds has no plans to step away from Wrexham

It’s clear that McElhenney and Olson hold Wrexham close to their hearts and neither look set to walk away any time soon.

The same goes for Reynolds, with reports this week claiming that Reynolds is loving the Wrexham project.

Reynolds allegedly wants to continue ‘Welcome to Wrexham’ for as long as possible, suggesting that he is really in this for the long haul.

There is new investment though as Wrexham confirmed the Allyn family’s involvement at the club in October.

Some wondered whether that would lead to changes but Reynolds reaffirmed his commitment to Wrexham in December.

Promotion to the Championship is a real possibility this season and long may the McElhenney and Reynolds era continue with a third promotion in a row the target.
