Lewis Brunt was surprisingly axed from Wrexham’s League One squads in recent weeks despite no reports of an injury.
Lewis Brunt arrived at Wrexham during the 2024 summer transfer window, signing from Leicester City.
The centre-back found game time very hard to come by in the opening stages of the season, failing to play a single minute in League One until October 5th when he came off the bench against Northampton Town.
Brunt’s struggle for game time at Wrexham continued after his debut, not making an appearance in any of their following five league games post-Northampton.
However, he was then handed his first start in League One versus Exeter City and had been a mainstay in Phil Parkinson’s backline since then, though he did miss a few games through injury.
Brunt has been sensational for Wrexham after finally breaking into the team but he has once again been left out in recent weeks.

Lewis Brunt comments on Wrexham absence
After starting the 2-1 defeat to Leyton Orient on February 18th, the 24-year-old was then axed from Wrexham’s following five League One matchday squads.
He wasn’t amazing in that defeat but his form overall this term did not really warrant a complete snub by Parkinson.
As a result, Wrexhams fans probably believed that the centre-back was injured and their manager just simply hadn’t provided an update, as he sometimes doesn’t.
However, Brunt returned to the eleven against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday and as per Leader Live, has now revealed how he felt about doing so.
He said: “I just try and play every game the best I can. I was buzzing to be back in the team and buzzing with three points.
“That’s the strength of the squad. It doesn’t matter who plays at the back, we always want to keep clean sheets and that’s what we have been doing this season.
“If you win one-nil every week and keep a clean sheet, the win is all that matters at this stage of the season.”

Lewis Brunt on facing Stockport County
With it now clear Brunt was simply dropped, rather than picking up an sort of injury, it could offer fans hope that Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer make their own returns soon.
Parkinson commented on Mullin and Palmer this week, seemingly leaving the door open for them to feature again after missing the last nine league games.
Wrexham face Stockport County in their next fixture and Brunt has offered his verdict on the Hatters ahead of the tie.
He said: “In my time at Mansfield last season, I came up against Stockport and they’re a very good team.
“Wrexham and Stockport have got obvious ambition.
“The rivalry has come about before my time here but both teams are at the business end of the table so hopefully we can go out there and get another three points.”
