Wrexham recently said goodbye to Ollie Palmer, but only after he had turned in a stunning display against Hull City in the Carabao Cup.

Ollie Palmer left Wrexham for Swindon Town in August, completing a permanent move to the League Two side.

Palmer had been Wrexham’s striking hero alongside Paul Mullin, but he began to slide down Phil Parkinson’s pecking order in 2025.

Palmer has now made a swift impact at Swindon Town, but he has been recognised for his final appearance in a Wrexham shirt.

Parkinson made Palmer available in August, but still called on him from the bench against Hull City in the Carabao Cup.

Palmer made himself the hero of the night, scoring twice with Wrexham 3-1 down and taking the game to penalties, which Wrexham then won.

That remarkable showing failed to push Palmer any closer to first-team action, and his move to Swindon was secured ahead of deadline day.

Palmer may have departed the STōK Cae Ras, but he has been recognised for his display in that clash with Hull City.

The giant striker was named Player of the Round in the Carabao Cup at the back end of August, and he has now celebrated on Instagram.

‘Delighted to win the Carabao Cup player of the round,’ said Palmer, posing with his award in his hand.

Wrexham players past and present respond to Ollie Palmer

Palmer remains a popular man at Wrexham, and it was no surprise to see some of his former teammates respond.

The likes of Dan Scarr, Lewis Brunt and captain James McClean all sent messages of support to Palmer, as did former Wrexham duo George Evans and Sebastian Revan.

Wrexham’s official Instagram account even responded, stating, ‘Congratulations, Ollie’.

Palmer’s final game for Wrexham will live long in the memory after his brilliant display, and seeing that commemorated with an award just further represents a perfect send-off.
