Wrexham fans react as Ollie Palmer returns
Wrexham confirmed their starting eleven and bench for the meeting with Melbourne an hour before kick-off.
It was a very strong eleven put out by Phil Parkinson, and somewhat surprisingly, Ollie Palmer was named in the eleven.
Fans have now been reacting to the starting line-up, with some noticing an error that listed Tom O’Connor twice.
One fan, meanwhile, mocked comments asking about Paul Mullin, who has left for Wigan Athletic.
One fan wrote: “There’s only two Tom O’Connor’s”
Another Wrexham supporter echoed: “Two Tom O’Connors.”
The original team sheet was then deleted, with the club clearly spotting the O’Connor mistake.
A third mocked: “wHeREs mULleNs?”
Elsewhere, another fan asked why Sam Smith is not in the team, tweeting: “Sam Smith?”
And another asked: “Wonder why Rathbone isn’t starting?”
What Ollie Palmer has said about leaving Wrexham
Palmer and Mullin had transfer interest during the 2025 winter transfer window but both players remained at the club.
However, after January 28, neither player made a League One appearance for the Dragons.
Palmer was told to leave Wrexham on loan by Parkinson earlier this year, the striker revealed in the latest season of Welcome to Wrexham.
He said: “He thinks it’s best for me to go out on loan, I said I want to be part of the promotion. I’ve given everything to this club and the community and loved it.
“Why would I then want to…. It’s just I’ve built a bond with the boys and the staff and the fans, and everything to do with Wrexham.
“I just don’t know what to do. You don’t want to be somewhere where you’re not wanted, but my heart is to be at this football club and continue what I’ve been doing and help the team in any way, so I just don’t know.”
