Wrexham will be without a number of players when they face Cambridge United this weekend.

The Red Dragons take on Cambridge United for the first time since an FA Cup meeting in 2011 on Saturday.

Paul Mullin could line out for Wrexham against his former club, joining the Red Dragons from their upcoming opponents back in July 2021.

Ahead of the tie, Phil Parkinson is looking to match an impressive record, but his side will need to be at the top of their game to do so.

Cambridge are languishing in the relegation zone before the next round of League One fixtures get underway.

But they have lost just one in five and most recently put four past Shrewsbury Town, suggesting they could pose a threat to Wrexham’s superb clean sheet record.

Ahead of the game, Parkinson has provided a fresh injury update on his squad and it’s not looking great.

Phil Parkinson details further Wrexham injury blows before Cambridge United

Wrexham were without a few key players when they took on Burton Albion last Saturday.

James McClean and George Dobson were missing due to suspension, while Callum Burton had picked up an injury vs Barnsley, seeing Mark Howard handed a rare start.

The former two of that trio are expected to be back in the Wrexham starting lineup to face Cambridge on December 14th.

But as per Leader Live, Parkinson has now suggested there are more stars who could miss the game due to injury.

The 57-year-old would not name specific names, however, so we will likely have to wait until the team news is announced at 2pm to learn of the players impacted.

He said: “We’ve got a couple of little injuries which we’ve got to look closely at before the weekend.

“I don’t really want to mention too much about who they are but we’ve got a few issues to resolve as we go into the weekend and a few decisions to make on the team selection.”

Further blows to Wrexham’s senior squad could prove to be detrimental to their promotion push.

The Red Dragons are only behind first-place Wycombe Wanderers via goal difference at present but Matt Bloomfield’s side have a game in hand.

Birmingham City are hot on the club’s heels as well, and they have two chances to close the gap on Wrexham.

Parkinson is already without a number of key players and Wrexham’s full confirmed injury list can be seen below.
