Paul Mullin has spoken out after being forced to respond following a decision made by Phil Parkinson.
Paul Mullin has now left Wrexham ahead of the 2025/26 season getting underway.
While the Red Dragons are set to compete in the Championship, the Liverpool-born player will remain in League One.
Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2025/26 campaign, with Wrexham still paying half his wages and an option for a potential January recall inserted into the deal.
His exit comes after the club icon was cast aside by manager Phil Parkinson in the second half of 2024/25.

Paul Mullin on Phil Parkinson bust-up rumours
Mullin and Ollie Palmer were axed from the League One squad after January 28, losing their spots to Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.
During the second half of 2024/25, with the centre-forward no longer being selected for matchday squads, rumours of a falling out with Parkinson emerged.
At the time, Mullin responded to bust-up claims with a one-word message on X/Twitter, simply writing ‘nonsense’.
Now, the striker has spoken out about those rumours when speaking on the Stillryan podcast.
When doing so, Mullin said it would have been nice if the Wrexham boss came out and explained why he was no longer playing, but because Parkinson decided against doing that, the number nine believes he ‘had to respond’ to the rumours.
He said: “There are things that bug you as you’re only human. It’s when people come up with stupid stuff. There was a thing earlier in the year that I’d rung the owners, Rob and Ryan, and gone above the manager and that’s why I wasn’t playing.
“I don’t know where they get it from. Don’t get me wrong, the manager could have helped me out and come out and said why he wasn’t playing me and that would’ve been it.
“I don’t know why that didn’t happen, but I had to respond because that’s not me, that’s not my personality and that didn’t happen.”
Why Phil Parkinson dropped Paul Mullin from Wrexham squad
The 2024/25 season came to a close with the forward still out in the cold.
But it has finally been explained why Parkinson dropped Mullin and Palmer in the latest season of Welcome to Wrexham.
During Episode 6, which aired in June, the Wrexham manager stated: “When we brought two strikers in January, we always knew we’d have a surplus of, and people would find themselves out of the 18-man squad because you can only have seven substitutes.
“That’s the way it is. Mulls didn’t just quite get the goals, which he normally does, and I thought he had a good start to the season, and his general performances were decent, but the goals just didn’t come, and we just needed more from the player in that number nine role.
“So Paul and Ollie found themselves out of the 18-man squad. It’s a harder level than we’d been operating at. So, both good lads, really good lads, have carried on training well for us. But it’s tough, it’s a competitive division, to make the step up is not easy.”
