Paul Mullin still wants to achieve one more thing before he leaves Wrexham, with whom he is under contract until 2027.

It’s now been nearly four full years since Wrexham pulled off a major coup and landed Paul Mullin for completely free.

The striker has been integral to the club’s record-setting rise from the National League all the way up to the Championship.

However, his future has been cast into doubt in recent months following Phil Parkinson dropping him from Wrexham’s matchday squad in the second half of 2024/25.

Wigan Athletic are linked to Mullin, and it’s been claimed he could be allowed to join for free despite still having another two years to run on his current contract with the Hollywood-backed side.

However, there is one thing the attacker would love to do before waving goodbye to fans.

Wrexham beat Charlton Athletic 3-0 on April 26, 2025, securing second place in League One behind Birmingham City.

They will now compete in the Championship for the first time since the competition was rebranded in the early 2000s.

Mullin, meanwhile, has never lined out in the second tier of English football throughout his career.

But speaking on Season 4 Episode 6 of Welcome to Wrexham, the 30-year-old said how he would love to play just one match in the Championship for Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds’ club.

He said: “Just to play one game in the Championship at Wrexham would be worth absolutely everything, be the icing on the cake for this story, who knows where it could end.

“I’ve enjoyed absolutely every minute here.”

When will Paul Mullin leave Wrexham

While his contract isn’t up for another 24 months, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the number nine.

Mullin suggested Parkinson doesn’t trust him as much when discussing being left out of the squad.

Wrexham are eyeing a new striker this summer as well, which will create even more competition for the Englishman.

Parkinson has explained why he dropped Mullin and Palmer as well. Whatever happens, though, the 100-plus goal forward will go down as one of the greatest players in the club’s history.
