Phil Parkinson has not had the dream start to life in the Championship with Wrexham, as the Red Dragons currently occupy 16th in the division.

Ahead of the Norwich City match, there were rumours circulating around the future of Parkinson as manager of Wrexham.

However, following their victory over the Canaries, Parkinson had a defiant message about his Wrexham job and how he will continue to handle the pressure at the Red Dragons.

The Welsh club do have a few ‘improvements’ to make, according to the manager, and he believes he has the answers to do so.

Phil Parkinson believes ‘improvements’ will happen as Wrexham adapt to life in the Championship

Wrexham have been on a rapid journey through the English football pyramid as they secured three consecutive promotions from the National League to the Championship.

This has seen their squad have to adapt rapidly through the divisions, and that is despite adding quality this summer through their 13 summer signings.

Now Parkinson has admitted to The Leader that his side are adapting to life in the Championship, exciting fans with a promise they will improve.

He said: “We had a setback against QPR, but in general, I feel we are finding our way into the league and progressing quite well.

“In this division of such quality, you get setbacks along the way, and it is how you respond.

“But the belief in the group has got to be growing. We know we can compete, and we are evolving still as a team.

“We are a work in progress, and there are improvements to be made.”

Phil Parkinson is still waiting to have all his summer signings available for Wrexham#

Wrexham spent £33 million on 13 summer signings in the latest transfer window; however, due to several of them picking up injuries over the past few weeks, it means Parkinson has never had his full squad available to him.

Liberato Cacace’s injury has dealt another blow to the Red Dragons’ manager, the defender being ruled out for several weeks after sustaining a hamstring issue against Millwall.’

Parkinson is excited to have his whole squad available, as he believes results will pick up in the Championship, as he said: “We’ve signed some good players, and people keep saying that to me, but I say we haven’t had a lot of them on the pitch.

“We need to get everybody up to speed, and I feel when we do that, we’ve got a squad to compete at this level.

“We’re managing these players into the club with minutes.

“It’s an understanding of how we want them to play, but also trying to not pick up injuries at this stage of the season.”
