We are less than a month into the 2025/26 Championship season and Phil Parkinson’s future at Wrexham is already being questioned.

Before a ball had been kicked this campaign, EFL pundit Ryan Dilks suggested that Wrexham sacking Phil Parkinson in 2025/26 was possible.

Benjamin Bloom, another pundit, also discussed Parkinson leaving the Red Dragons in the current season.

With two gameweeks behind us, Wrexham have so far failed to pick up a point in the second tier.

They have faced two tough opponents in Southampton and West Brom, but the dismissal of their manager remains a talking point.

Simon Jordan questions Phil Parkinson Wrexham future

Prior to winning promotion with Wrexham in 2024/25, Parkinson’s Championship record with former clubs was not great.

Now, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan has been discussing the 57-year-old and whether he can cut it in the second tier.

Jordan was quick to point out the difficulty of the two aforementioned matches, and while he thinks Wrexham ‘will be fine’, he is unsure about Parkinson.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: “Wrexham have had two difficult games. You’ve got Southampton just relegated and West Brom that are an established Championship side that are often perceived to be someone that’s pushing for promotion.

“So Wrexham have not had an easy start. They’ll be fine. Whether Phil Parkinson cuts it as a manager in the Championship, we’ll see.

“Certainly a good manager to get you out of League One and to maintain certain status quos in League One and League Two and has been around enough to tell a lot of respect for that sort of role.

“But now we’re moving into the big leagues now. This is the precursor to the event that you’ll want to be part of, which is the Premier League.”

What we know about Wrexham dismissing Phil Parkinson

Though it has been a major talking point at the club over the last month or so, Wrexham have no plans to sack Parkinson right now, The Wrexham Insider revealed on Tuesday.

Our transfer correspondent, Graeme Bailey, said: “Phil Parkinson is a Wrexham legend, when he leaves the Racecourse, he will be due a statue, no doubt about it. But the Parkinson era is not finished yet – I am told the club as a whole are frustrated. Parkinson knows the pressure is on.

“Parkinson has turned the Wrexham job into one that would be the most desirable outside the Premier League, he has created the pressure himself and I am told he is embracing it. Wrexham as a club are fully behind him, they are focused on staying in the Championship this season – let’s get it right that was always their target this year.

“As it stands there is no talk about replacing Parkinson, if they continue to struggle then this might be a different conversation come Christmas but they have had a big turnover of players and are happy with the path they are on.”

Wrexham are predicted to be relegated by Opta’s supercomputer after two fixtures, but you would assume that even after the slow start, Parkinson has too much credit in the bank right now for the club to already be looking at replacements.
