Wrexham have progressed rapidly under Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds but the club have now taken on new investment.

Wrexham have had the week off in terms of on-pitch duties as Phil Parkinson and co gear up to face Harrogate Town in the FA Cup.

Off the pitch though, Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have been pretty busy.

We know that the Hollywood duo have commitments all over the place, whether it’s in their acting careers or in their other business interests.

Wrexham remain a top priority to them though and we have seen two important deals go through in recent days.

Wrexham have confirmed investment from the Allyn family whilst fans were pleased after McElhenney and Reynolds invested in Wrexham Lager.

Phil Parkinson on new Wrexham investors

Whilst the Wrexham Lager deal again shows McElhenney and Reynolds’ interest in the community, it’s the Allyn family deal which will impact Wrexham the most.

The Allyn family owned Welch Allyn, a medical device company based in New York, for more than 100 years before deciding to sell nearly 10 years ago.

Now set to offer more support to Wrexham, the Allyn family will play a key role financially and operationally after joining forces with McElhenney and Reynolds.

TBR’s Head of Football Finance and Governance Content Adam Williams has told The Wrexham Insider that the Allyn family may have taken a ‘significant minority stake’ in Wrexham.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson has now commented on the deal whilst speaking to BBC Sport.

Parkinson noted that he has spoken to members of the Allyn family and believes that they are a ‘fantastic fit’ for the club.

Parkinson added that they are just like McElhenney and Reynolds, noting a ‘complete buy-in’ in terms of driving success on and off the pitch.

“I’ve met Eric and his daughter Kaleen, and they’re just great people. A fantastic fit for the club,” said Parkinson.

“They came down to the training ground last week and we had a great chat with them. They’re so enthusiastic about coming on this journey with the club and the impact they can hopefully make.

“We talked about the club, the team, the area in general and all the things they’re interested in. Like Rob and Ryan, they’ve got a great interest in not just the team on a Saturday afternoon but also the area and the impact on the area.

“Anyone in and around Wrexham can see that what Rob and Ryan set out to do was build a football club that could have a knock-on effect for the whole area, and Eric and Kaleen have got a complete buy-in with that,” he added.

How much did Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds pay for Wrexham?

This journey has been remarkable to witness and Wrexham are gunning for a third promotion in a row under Parkinson.

Whether that happens or not, Wrexham are in a great position to kick on and push towards the Premier League in the coming years.

Further investment from the Allyn family should help Wrexham on that journey and the club’s value continues to grow.

McElhenney and Reynolds paid just £2million to purchase Wrexham in 2021 and they would certainly rack up profit on that figure if they sold now.

Hopefully that day is a long way off though as McElhenney and Reynolds continue to take the club forward, with this latest step no doubt helping Wrexham build the infrastructure of the club after a rapid rise from non-league football.
