Phil Parkinson etched his name into the history books after Wrexham drew 0-0 with Huddersfield Town.

The Wrexham manager has become one of the most famous coaches in world football over the last several years.

After sacking Dean Keates following a failed attempt to get the Red Dragons into the National League play-offs, new owners Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds appointed Phil Parkinson as their club’s new manager in July 2021.

The ‘Welcome to Wrexham‘ documentary has since given the former Bolton Wanderers boss a world-wide profile and, so far, he has shone.

Parkinson has taken the Welsh outfit from the depths of the National League to the heights of League One in just a few seasons.

And while a first-place finish is looking unlikely in 2024/25, Wrexham are on course to clinch a historic third-success promotion under Parkinson.

Their latest league fixture saw Wrexham draw 0-0 with Huddersfield Town at the Racecourse Ground on October 22nd.

Phil Parkinson matched Wrexham record vs Huddersfield Town

Wrexham were limited to just one shot on target across the 90 minutes and ended their 100 percent home record in 2024/25.

However, there are still plenty of positives the newly promoted side can take from the game, including one staggering record.

After managing another shutout against Huddersfield, Wrexham have kept clean sheets in half of their games (seven out of 14), half their home games (four out of eight) and half their away games (three out of six) this term.

Even more impressively, though, it has now been revealed that the last time Wrexham kept seven clean sheets in their first 12 league games in the EFL was all the way back at the beginning of the 1978/79 campaign, meaning Parkinson is the first manager to achieve that feat in 46 years.

Arthur Okonkwo deserves huge credit for Wrexham record

As well as Parkinson, summer signing Arthur Okonkwo deserves a huge amount of credit for helping match their clean sheet record.

Parkinson praised McElhenney and Reynolds for bringing Okonkwo back to Wrexham in the summer, securing him on a permanent basis after he shone on loan from Arsenal in 2023/24.

The goalkeeper has been a revelation between the sticks since he arrived early in 2023/24 following some questionable displays from Ben Foster.

He has been pivotal to keeping those seven clean sheets and Okonkwo was even outperforming every Premier League goalkeeper at one point in the current campaign.

Wrexham are next in action away to Charlton Athletic on October 26th, with Okonkwo no doubt keen to improve on his incredible clean sheet record this term.
