Phil Parkinson now told by pundit why Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac could sack him this season

Phil Parkinson is in danger of losing his job if one thing doesn’t change at Wrexham, according to one EFL pundit.

Before the 2025/26 Championship season had even begun, Phil Parkinson’s future was questioned.

Wrexham have since endured a difficult start, securing just one win from five to leave them 21st in the Championship.

There may be a number of reasons for this, including new signings still needing time to gel.

But there is clearly some concern at the club, given, as we reported last weekend, talks about Parkinson’s future were held prior to the QPR loss.

Now, one EFL pundit has explained why the manager could lose his job in 2025/26.

Why Wrexham could sack Phil Parkinson

As mentioned, Wrexham are just above the relegation zone going into their clash with Norwich City on Saturday.

And EFL pundit Benjamin Bloom has now suggested that such form in the long term will lead to Parkinson’s dismissal.

Bloom went as far as to suggest that Parkinson is the most likely Championship manager to be sacked next.

He stated: “Wrexham are 21st, which will not keep Phil Parkinson in a job. You know, there’s loads of eyeballs on them. There’s loads of money spent and the longer he stays in the bottom four, where he is frankly in relegation form with fewer than one point per game, the more pressure will go on.

“And if you were to ask me right now, if I had to pick one manager in the Championship who was the most likely to lose his job next, whether that’s right or wrong way to kind of discuss managers, I would say Parkinson.”

Managers available to replace Phil Parkinson

This summer saw a lot of Championship teams make changes in the dugout.

Chris Wilder was sacked by Sheffield United and replaced by Ruben Selles before Wilder was given the job again this month.

The likes of Leicester City and Middlesbrough have scooped up proven managers in the second tier as well.

But there are still a few decent names who, at the time of writing, are without a club.

Danny Rohl has been out of work since departing Sheffield Wednesday.

And if Wrexham really were concerned about relegation this season, there are plenty of experienced coaches around, like Sean Dyche and Sam Allardyce, who could come in to help steady the ship in the short term.
