Wrexham are closing in on summer signing number eight, with Phil Parkinson keen for more business to be completed this week.
Conor Coady joined Wrexham on Friday, completing a £2million move from Championship rivals Leicester City.
Wrexham had already secured six signings prior to Coady’s arrival, with Ryan Hardie, Danny Ward, Liberato Cacace, George Thomason, Josh Windass, and Lewis O’Brien all arriving.
Coady made his first Wrexham appearance against FC Groningen on Saturday and will now push for action against Southampton this weekend.
This has been a busy summer for Phil Parkinson, but his attention has already turned to more incomings ahead of Wrexham’s clash with the Saints.
Phil Parkinson on more Wrexham signings
Speculation has been rampant throughout the summer, with Wrexham linked to so many potential signings.
Seven have now come through the door, but Wrexham’s business will not be finished there.
Wrexham are chasing Nathan Broadhead, though Ipswich Town are yet to sign off on a possible £7.5million swoop for the Welsh international.
Talleres midfielder Juan Portilla is on Wrexham’s radar, while Sheffield United’s Kieffer Moore has undergone a medical.
Moore should be on board before facing Southampton, but whether other deals emerge remains to be seen.
Speaking to Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, Parkinson admitted that he is hoping for more business in the coming days.
Parkinson noted that pre-season has been ‘good’ for Wrexham, highlighting how the players have coped after returning from Australia and New Zealand.
Parkinson stopped short of saying that Wrexham are completely ready for the new season, though, and hopes to see more new faces arrive before facing Southampton.
The Wrexham boss believes that his squad will be ‘ready’ for that game, which suggests that we could be in for another exciting week in terms of transfers.
“I think the minutes we’ve got in the players has been good, it’s been consistent, so I’m pleased with that,” said Parkinson.
“We brought the lads back in early, so we had some decent training in us before we went to Australia and New Zealand, so that was decent.
“We’ve came back, I think we’ve recovered well from the trip, we gave the lads a couple of days and, in general, the training has been good.
“Are we completely ready? Hopefully there’s a bit more transfer activity this week, but by next Saturday, we’ll be ready for action,” he added.
More business to come for Wrexham
Parkinson must also consider outgoings in order to balance his Wrexham squad after a busy summer of incomings.
Jacob Mendy has been made available on loan, with the left wing-back struggling for minutes in League One last season.
Sebastian Revan will surely follow suit as the former Aston Villa talent seeks first-team minutes following Cacace’s arrival.
Modou Faal is another player who may need a loan move, while Ollie Palmer could be on the move.
Coady’s arrival may just raise some small question marks over Dan Scarr’s future, with outgoing business potentially taking priority after this week.
