Wrexham are looking to sign Talleres midfielder Juan Portilla, with the Colombia international interested in a move to the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham’s transfer window may have started a little quietly, but it has truly exploded into life of late.

£700,000 on Ryan Hardie and the free transfer return of Danny Ward represented a measured opening to the transfer window.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have backed a real spending spree in recent weeks, though, starting with the signing of Liberato Cacace.

George Thomason, Josh Windass and Lewis O’Brien followed, but the spending will not stop here.

Wrexham are closing in on Nathan Broadhead in a £7.5million move from Ipswich Town, while Parkinson remains interested in signing Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United.

Juan Portilla training on his own amid Wrexham interest

Another name in the mix is Talleres midfielder Juan Portilla, who emerged as a surprise target last weekend.

Wrexham were linked with Portilla in a £4million move, and the situation took a turn on Sunday evening.

Portilla was an unused substitute for Talleres against Godoy Cruz, with Carlos Tevez failing to rule out a transfer.

Reports on Tuesday suggested that Portilla is interested in joining Wrexham, despite interest from Brazilian clubs.

Wrexham hadn’t made direct contact with Talleres, but Portilla looks destined to leave the Argentinian club very soon.

La Voz in Argentina report that Portilla is ‘training separately’ from the rest of the Talleres squad ahead of a potential exit.

It’s suggested that Talleres are waiting for Atletico Mineiro to make an acceptable offer, though Wrexham will be right in the mix as well.

Talleres take on Lanus this weekend, but Portilla is not expected to be involved as he trains on his own.

Portilla’s representatives make exit stance clear

Wrexham will be paying close attention to Portilla’s situation, with Talleres potentially hoping for a resolution sooner rather than later.

Portilla’s representatives have made the Colombian international’s stance clear, telling La Voz that he wants to leave Talleres ‘no matter what’.

“Portilla wants to leave no matter what. He’s raised that point,” said Portilla’s representatives.

The 26-year-old’s destination remains unclear, but his interest in a move to Wrexham means Parkinson could pounce in the coming days.

A combative midfielder with three Colombia caps to his name, Portilla is ready for another transfer and will hope to see Wrexham make a firm offer soon.
