Wrexham suffered defeat on the opening day of their season, while one former player had a tough afternoon of his own.
After 43 years away, the Welsh outfit had a great start to life back in the second tier when Josh Windass scored against Southampton to put them 1-0 up.
However, Phil Parkinson’s side missed several chances via the likes of Lewis O’Brien and Ryan Hardie to double their lead and were punished.
In the end, Southampton fought back with two late goals to beat Wrexham 2-1 at St Mary’s.
Earlier in the day, one former player who has recently left the club was in action and had a bit of a nightmare.

Will Boyle sent off for Wrexham rivals
While Wrexham secured promotion from League One in 2024/25, their old rivals, Shrewsbury Town, suffered relegation.
Shrewsbury are now plying their trade in the fourth tier and recently signed Will Boyle from Wrexham.
The defender was still under contract but after hardly featuring last term, was moved on by the Dragons.
Boyle started in their opening-day fixture last weekend, helping them secure a 0-0 draw.
However, they faced Tranmere Rovers on August 9 and had no such luck keeping a clean sheet.
Boyle was shown two yellow cards in the space of a minute and sent off shortly before the hour mark.
Shrewsbury were already two goals down at the time and conceded a further two after Boyle’s dismissal.
