Ryan Hardie has become Wrexham’s first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window and a released player has sent him a message.

Wrexham released eight players when they confirmed their retained list in May 2025.

Sam Dalby has joined Bolton Wanderers as a free agent after previously turning down a new deal with the Welsh side.

Dalby spent 2024/25 out on loan and had no role in the club’s latest promotion, but some key stars from last term have left.

Steven Fletcher is leaving Wrexham ‘not by choice’, while Mark Howard is departing as he still wants to play on a regular basis.

Now, Howard has sent a message to Hardie, making a prediction for the striker now that the deal is over the line.

Mark Howard sends message to Ryan Hardie after Wrexham transfer

Wrexham have paid £700,000 to bring the number nine from Plymouth Argyle.

Hardie did have a £2m release clause, but because the Greens suffered relegation to League One in the most recent season, that fee was cut drastically.

Wrexham confirmed the signing on Monday evening, with Hardie sending a message via Instagram.

He wrote: “Delighted to join @wrexham_afc, it feels like something special is happening at this club and I look forward to building a special relationship with the fans and helping the club achieve its objectives. Let’s go.”

Howard took to the comment section of that post, writing: “Mate. Congrats you’re going to bloody love it,” followed by a clapping hands emoji.

What Ryan Reynolds said about Wrexham signing Ryan Hardie

Hardie has arrived very early in the summer transfer window, becoming only the second player to be signed in June of a summer window under Phil Parkinson after Arthur Okonkwo last year.

His £700,000 fee makes him the club’s second most expensive signing behind January addition Sam Smith.

And Ryan Reynolds has reacted to the Hardie move via his Instagram story.

The Wrexham co-owner quoted a post about the transfer being made official and wrote: “Welcome to Wrexham Wyan.”
