Wrexham co-owner Rob Mac has penned a heartfelt message to Ollie Palmer who has left the club to join Swindon Town on a permanent deal.

Ollie Palmer has put to bed a summer of uncertainty and joined Swindon Town on a permanent deal from Wrexham.

On Friday afternoon, it was announced that Palmer had left Wrexham to join the League Two side after falling well down the pecking order in 2025.

Manager Phil Parkinson has upgraded Palmer and the likes of Paul Mullin too, with players such as Josh Windass and Kieffer Moore who is currently Wrexham’s top scorer with three goals in four games already.

Palmer had offers from several clubs and he was also offered to a number of teams too, but Palmer was enticed by the Swindon Town project and he joins on a two-year deal.

It is clear that Palmer is one of the Wrexham players who Wrexham co-owner Rob Mac has a good personal relationship, so too Ryan Reynolds. And after hearing the news that Palmer had left the Racecourse, Mac took to Instagram to share an array of pictures of himself and Palmer, and as well as posting a heartfelt message to the Wrexham legend.

Mac’s Instagram post read: “I think the first photo is the first time I met this gloriously handsome, supremely gifted, kind and charismatic man. A great Husband, Dad, friend and of course footballer. @olliep9_ I can’t believe it’s time for you to move on. I’m in awe of your grace and (yes I swear 🙂 your humility.

“People only see what happens in public. They don’t known the Ollie I do. He’s given us so much. And I will miss him and his beautiful family. My only hope is that he has success on the pitch and returns to us in some capacity because he will always, always, always be a member of @wrexham_afc and always have a home with us.”

Reynolds also posted about Palmer after hearing the news, and he and Mac both touched on some similar characteristics of Palmer, highlighting how much of a charismatic person he was off the pitch and how much of a good father and husband he was too.

Given the array of messages from fans, owners and players, it is clear how much Palmer meant to so many people at Wrexham and his record of 44 goals in 150 total appearances along with three promotions certainly writes his name into Wrexham history as one of the best and most prolific strikers the club has ever had.

Swindon is an ambitious club aiming for promotion and adding such a proven striker to their ranks will certainly bolster their promotion credentials.

Wrexham meanwhile return to Championship action against Millwall on Saturday, searching for their first league win of the campaign.
