Wrexham have confirmed the departure of striker Ollie Palmer.

After an entire summer of speculation, Wrexham confirmed Palmer’s move to Swindon Town as the striker searches for regular first-team football with the League Two outfit.

Palmer has sent an emotional farewell to Wrexham fans and brings an end to a successful three and a half year spell at the club.

With three promotions and many vital contributions, Palmer’s last kick of a ball in a Wrexham shirt was to score a penalty in the Carabao Cup victory over Hull City. Ryan Reynolds has paid tribute to the striker’s time with the Red Dragons.

Palmer is excited by his new chapter at Swindon but leaves behind a wealth of great memories from his time in North Wales.

Co-owner Reynolds has taken to his Instagram to send a heartfelt message of gratitude to the 33-year-old striker.

Reynolds wrote: “Gut punch… Ollie is a big reason we’re in this league today. Not to mention the boundless charisma and charm… he harnessed a lifetime of talent, heart and work-ethic to push Wrexham AFC and the town forward.

“Spending time with Ollie’s incredible family: his wife, Caitlin, amazing kids and his dad, Andy, are forever-memories. Ollie is my friend now and always.

“The silver lining is Swindon Town is an excellent club and they get to experience that same feeling Rob Mac and I felt as Ollie steps onto the pitch at The County Ground to push Swindon FC forward and up the pyramid. Thank you, Ollie.”

Palmer faces a tough start to life at Swindon as he could make his debut away at table-toppers Crewe Alexandra.

Ryan Reynolds had a special relationship with Ollie Palmer

It is clear that Reynolds was a big fan of Palmer both as a player and as a person and the feeling was mutual when it came to the centre forward.

Palmer hailed Reynolds and McElhenney for the work they have done at the club and how approachable they are in terms of helping their players in times of need.
