Wrexham could be set to part ways with long-time striker Ollie Palmer this summer.

Much like Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer saw his game time heavily reduced in the second half of 2024/25.

As Wrexham secured yet another promotion, the 33-year-old was left out of every matchday squad after January 28.

In turn, the centre-forward’s future has now been called into question in the current transfer window.

TWI revealed last week that Wrexham have offered Palmer to multiple clubs this summer, with both MK Dons and his former team, AFC Wimbledon, showing an interest.

His wages may make a deal tricky, but much like they did with Mullin, the Red Dragons are willing to help the striker complete a deal.

Now, we have taken a look at four winners if Palmer departs the Racecourse and rejoins his former club.

Phil Parkinson

Back in January, Phil Parkinson told Palmer to leave on loan after he signed Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.

The striker stayed put, but Wrexham have since added another centre-forward to their ranks with plans to sign two more.

Parkinson is already struggling to contend with EFL Championship squad rules – he must leave out five players right now – but moving on Palmer this summer would make his selection choice slightly easier.

Kieffer Moore

As mentioned, the Dragons are ready to improve their striker ranks even more following the addition of Ryan Hardie.

Though not official just yet, Kieffer Moore is joining Wrexham from Sheffield United this summer in a £2m deal.

With the pacey Nathan Broadhead expected to arrive as the other centre-forward, Moore will most likely be competing alongside Hardie for the ‘big man’ role in Parkinson’s front line.

This role was previously held by Palmer, but the 33-year-old leaving will mean less competition for Moore and Hardie.

AFC Wimbledon

While he fell out of favour in 2024/25, Palmer impressed at times for Wrexham last term – enough to earn himself a new contract towards the end of 2024.

Wimbledon won promotion to League One last season, and bringing an experienced forward like Palmer back to their club would be a boost.

Granted, he’s unlikely to fire them towards a promotion push, but unlike Wrexham, they should be concentrating more on consolidation in the third tier, which the Wrexham man can help with.

Ollie Palmer

It may not seem like a win for the player after he refused to go out on loan earlier this year.

However, it has become clear that the Englishman no longer has a place in Parkinson’s squad.

So, a transfer back to his former club is the best-case scenario for Palmer, who previously said he could retire with Wimbledon before being convinced to move to Wales.
