Rob Mac has sent a message to a released Wrexham player this week, following his new project getting up and running.

The summer of 2025 saw eight players depart the Racecourse Ground for free when their contracts expired.

Among those was Steven Fletcher, who said at the time that he was leaving Wrexham ‘not by choice’.

Unlike most players who were axed at the end of their contracts, the veteran striker did not find a new club.

Instead, Fletcher confirmed his retirement from football recently and has taken up a new sport.

Rob Mac message to Steven Fletcher

Fletcher has launched a golf channel with former Premier League and England centre-back Phil Jagielka.

The duo have posted their first YouTube video this week, and Rob Mac has reacted.

The pair travelled to Egypt to film the video, which is now live and can be viewed below.

Mac sent a message to the Scotsman on Instagram about his new career as a golf YouTuber, asking why he wasn’t invited.

The Wrexham co-owner wrote: “This is so cool. One question: why wasn’t I invited @s.f_golf @flagzgolf ?”

Rob Mac begged Steven Fletcher to stay at Wrexham

As mentioned above, Fletcher said leaving Wrexham over the summer wasn’t his decision.

It clearly wasn’t the choice of the Always Sunny star either, who made his stance on the striker’s future clear.

Fletcher revealed over the summer that just days before he found out he was being released, Mac begged him to stay at Wrexham.

The former Sunderland man stated: “Rob loved his golf as much as I did, so he invited me to play in the summer there. We went to Vegas after getting promoted.

“After Vegas, all the boys flew home, but me and Elliot Lee flew to LA to meet the owner to play a few rounds of golf with him. In the buggy, he begged me to stay, but two days later I got released.”
