Rob McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds, and Tom Brady have formed a light-hearted rivalry over the course of 2024/25.

With Wrexham in League One for the first time since it was rebranded and Birmingham City suffering relegation from the Championship, a Hollywood rivalry has been formed.

Tom Brady is invested in Birmingham City, while Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds, of course, own Wrexham.

There was no Hollwyood derby this past weekend in the EFL Trophy final after the Red Dragons were knocked out of the competition in the semi-finals by the now winners, Peterborough United.

Former Wrexham star Darren Ferguson made history against Birmingham, with the Posh picking up their second piece of silverware in the space of two seasons.

The Blues, meanwhile, have already won the League One title, leaving Wrexham well behind in the race for promotion.

Wrexham lead Birmingham City in impressive stat

Birmingham beat Wrexham in the first meeting between the two sides early in the 2024/25 season.

This saw McElhenney, Ryan Reynolds, and Brady exchanging words, jokingly, of course.

The reverse fixture ended in a 1-1 draw, meaning Rob and Ryan remain without a win over their celebrity rival.

However, there is one thing Wrexham have done better than Birmingham over the course of the season.

Across the top-four leagues in England this term, Sheffield United have scored first on the most occasions (30).

Wrexham then take second place, finding the net 29 times before their opponents, while Birmingham are just behind in third.

How likely are Wrexham to face Birmingham City next season

Birmingham wrapped up the League One title on Saturday despite not playing after Wrexham drew their last fixture.

The gap between the two sides has grown a great deal in recent weeks and is expected to be extended further once the Blues play their game in hand.

And while Rob and Ryan never managed to beat Brady this season, they should have a chance to do so once 2025/26 rolls around.

Wrexham are predicted to finish second in League One by Opta, who gave them a 55.72% chance of winning promotion.

Third-place Wycombe, on the other hand, have seen their chances reduced to 37.30% following the weekend.
