Rob McElhenney has been expressing his love for one Wrexham player, who he wants two things for.

Wrexham are back in the second tier of English football following their promotion from League One in April.

The Dragons beat Charlton Athletic on April 26 to clinch second place in League One, setting a record the following week.

Wrexham ended 2024/25 with 92 points – a club high when competing inside the EFL.

There were so many players who played key roles across the campaign, with Paul Mullin having some crucial moments despite not playing much in the second half of the season.

Now, Rob McElhenney has been discussing one star who was very important in the early stages of 24/25.

Rob McElhenney on Wrexham striker Jack Marriott

Mullin was injured for Wrexham at the start of the new season, seeing Phil Parkinson forced to find a new partner for Ollie Palmer.

The man he thought could step up to the plate was Jack Marriott, who proved to be quite prolific in the opening few months.

The number nine has now been discussed by McElhenney on the latest episode of Welcome to Wrexham, which was released in the UK on May 23.

Episode 3 began with a focus on Marriott, documenting his season, which included a long-term injury.

On the striker, Rob said during the episode:  “I love him so much, I wish only good things for him. And for him to score tons of goals for us.”

Rob McElhenney’s Jack Marriott prediction

McElhenney made a big Marriott prediction after the opening game of 2024/25.

The forward found the net as Wrexham beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-2, with Rob backing his striker for big things.

He said: “I was just really excited for Jack [Marriott]. I just feel like he is going to shine.

“He was just looking for that goal that is going to give him the confidence to go out there and be the player that he is.

“It was beautiful. We don’t have any replay here so we had to run back in. We don’t have it up on TV so we had to look on our phones and find it.”

Marriott went on to miss a large part of the season due to injury, ending with six league goals under his belt.
