Paul Mullin could be on his way out of Wrexham this summer, an update over the weekend has suggested.

Paul Mullin has been backed to leave Wrexham for several months after falling heavily out of favour in League One during the second half of 2024/25.

It then emerged over the weekend that Wigan Athletic want Mullin, and could even be allowed to sign him for free despite his contract running until 2027.

Mullin has commented on leaving Wrexham previously, suggesting in 2024 it was not something he thought about.

A lot has changed since then, though, with the striker not making a senior appearance since January 28.

Despite losing favour, however, the 30-year-old still produced a couple of key moments across 2024/25.

Paul Mullin scored 16-second goal for Wrexham

Mullin was injured at the start of the most recent campaign, seeing Jack Marriott start up front in his place.

The striker returned to action against Reading on August 24 but had to wait some time before opening his account for the season.

In his ninth League One appearance of the campaign, the number nine started and scored in a 1-0 win over Rotherham United.

Wrexham fans were in awe of Mullin following his goal, which came after just 16 seconds and secured them a big three points.

Ryan Reynolds loved Paul Mullin Wrexham goal

In total, Mullin scored three league goals across 2024/25 – a big decline from previous campaigns.

His second of the season came on Boxing Day when Wrexham beat Blackpool 2-1, coming from behind to win.

Ryan Reynolds reacted to Mullin’s goal at the time, taking to Instagram to write:  “This one. So pretty…”.

It was a stunning strike that, along with Steven Fletcher’s effort, helped the Dragons pick up the victory.

Mullin won Wrexham’s Goal of the Season award for the Blackpool goal, which was also nominated for the League One Goal of the Season.

He may not have started as much as some fans may have hoped in 2024/25, but the club icon still produced some big, exciting moments across the season.
