Wrexham have said a difficult goodbye to Paul Mullin after allowing the striker to sign for Wigan Athletic on Monday.
Wrexham fans may have been preparing for Paul Mullin’s exit in recent months, but seeing him wear another team’s shirt was truly painful.
Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the 2025–26 season, completing his move on Monday.
Mullin has spent most of 2025 in the stands, having largely been left out of the Wrexham squad since the end of the January transfer window.
The 30-year-old has been a goalscoring hero for Wrexham since joining from Cambridge United in 2021, scoring more than 100 times.
This may only be a loan move for now, but Mullin’s time at Wrexham may well be up as the club continues to push for the Premier League.

Fellow Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney has now chimed in on social media after seeing Mullin leave the STōK Cae Ras.
McElhenney has posted a screenshot of a first conversation over Mullin, in which he asked Humphrey Ker about the striker in 2021.
‘Who’s this guy? And are we able to get people of this caliber?’ said McElhenney, questioning whether Wrexham would really be able to secure his signature.
McElhenney ended up convincing Mullin to sign, as the striker left Cambridge United to drop down two divisions and join the Wrexham journey.
That decision certainly paid off for Mullin, who has become a Wrexham hero for life and found himself in the spotlight across the world.
