Wrexham return to action this coming Tuesday, facing off with Bolton Wanderers in the EFL Trophy.
The Red Dragons are yet to win any silverware, barring a league title of course, since Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds purchased the club in 2021.
Wrexham crashed out of the FA Cup and Carabao Cup in the early stages this season at the hands of Harrogate Town and Sheffield United.
However, they are still going strong in the EFL Trophy and are now gearing up for a quarter-final meeting with Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday evening.
Wrexham beat Port Vale 4-1 in the previous round of the competition this week but they are a League Two side and did not start their strongest eleven.
Bolton are by far and away the toughest test Phil Parkinson and co. have faced in the EFL Trophy this term and McElhenney is well aware of just how good one of their players is.

Wrexham co-owner Rob McElhenney praised Bolton Wanderers star
Bolton are ninth in the League One table ahead of the latest round of fixtures, sitting 11 points off Wrexham.
They may not have matched their lofty expectations going into the current campaign but are still a solid side and should put up a real fight when the two sides clash at the Racecourse Ground on February 11th.
One of Bolton’s current stars has already caught the eye of McElhenney, who was quick to praise him previously.
Wrexham were thought to be interested in John McAtee during the 2024 summer transfer window when he was still at Luton Town.
At that stage, McElhenney’s thoughts on McAtee were already clear after he had spoken on the Grimsby documentary series ‘All Town Aren’t We’ back in 2022.
He said then: “Ah, —— McAtee, this guy… this guy is so good. He killed me!”
The 25-year-old has since made the move to Bolton and has already scored seven and assisted four for his new club.
The forward has featured in all of The Trotters’ EFL Trophy games so far this term and will likely be involved against Wrexham.

Elliot Lee discussed Wrexham Wembley Stadium aspirations
Should Wrexham overcome Bolton and McAtee, they will be just one more win away from securing a spot in the final, which takes place at Wembley Stadium.
Prior to beating Port Vale on Tuesday, midfielder Elliot Lee discussed playing at Wembley in a conversation about the club’s mentality.
He said: “The mentality fed down from the gaffer and everywhere at the club is we want to win every game so it will be a strong team whatever team he puts out there.
“We’re all looking forward to it and if there’s a chance to play at Wembley and win some silverware at the end of it, who’s going to turn that down?”
Wrexham last played at Wembley in the 2022 FA Trophy Final, losing 1-0 to Bromley on that occasion.
