Josh Windass on Championship play-offs
The season has been difficult so far, and Wrexham are tipped to be relegated.
Pressure is on Phil Parkinson, whose record in the second tier of English football is not great.
However, there are still 41 games of the campaign to play out, and given how competitive the Championship is, a lot can change between now and the end of the season.
When discussing Wrexham and how they will fare in 2025/26, Windass was quick to highlight the points total required to reach the play-off and how teams don’t need to win all their games to reach the top six.
He said: “I think this is the only sort of division where you can lose a couple and then win a couple and still be right in the mix. Whereas in League One and League Two, you can’t really afford to slip up.
“But as you’ve seen in this division, I think last year the last play-off spot was 60-odd points, which is obviously not a team that’s winning so many games.
“So, if you can win as many games as you can, you’ve always got a good chance.”

Points needed for Wrexham to reach Championship play-offs
As Windass mentioned, the sixth-place Championship team in 2024/25 notched less than 70 points.
Bristol City ended the campaign with 68, while fifth-place Coventry City had 69.
After five matches, Wrexham have four points on the board following a draw with Sheffield Wednesday and a win over Millwall.
To match Bristol City’s total, Parkinson’s men will need another 64 from their remaining 41 games.
That works out around 1.56 points per match, or just over a win in every other fixture.
