Wrexham have faced difficulties under Phil Parkinson, with their recent defeat pointing towards a potential relegation.

Wrexham lost 3-1 to QPR, making it three defeats in five in the 2025/26 Championship season.

While Welsh striker Kieffer Moore gave Wrexham a glimmer of hope with a lovely headed finish to make it 2-1, defensive issues proved to hinder Phil Parkinson’s side.

The defeat at the Racecourse Ground against QPR has led to discussions amongst the Wrexham hierarchy about Phil Parkinson, as Wrexham Insider exclusively confirmed on Saturday evening following the game.

There was hope amongst the club that the Millwall win would help propel Wrexham up the league, but the recent OPTA Analyst supercomputer predictions have suggested that misery awaits Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac.

Wrexham predicted to suffer relegation following QPR defeat

According to the OPTA supercomputer, Wrexham have been predicted to finish 22nd in the Championship after their recent defeat to QPR.

While both Sheffield Wednesday and Oxford United are clear favourites to suffer the drop, Wrexham are the third-most likely, with a 27.74% chance of relegation in the 2025/26 Championship season.

A number of Wrexham supporters predicted the Red Dragons to finish in the top six of the Championship, but that feat is only 5.06% likely, while there is only a 1.00% chance of promotion.

After such damning predictions were handed to Wrexham, it is no surprise to see Phil Parkinson’s future being predicted by the higher-ups, who are concerned about the start to the season.

Wrexham are underachieving for the first time in Phil Parkinson’s tenure

The only other time that Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson found himself under the cosh during his time in North Wales was during his first season, but he was understandably given the benefit of the doubt due to it being early in his tenure.

Following on from those early difficulties, Wrexham went on to achieve three successive promotions, with Parkinson playing an instrumental role as head coach.

This summer has seen a significant wave of recruitment from Wrexham, which has seen Parkinson bring in proven Championship talent, and spending large sums in the process.

For the players that Parkinson has at his disposal, much more should be expected, and he will need to turn things around quickly.
