Ryan Reynolds has reacted to the news that a former Wrexham player has found himself a new club.

Wrexham had a very busy 2025 January transfer window with plenty of exits and incomings.

Sam Smith joined in a record transfer from Reading and is already off the mark for his new side.

Ryan Longman is loved by Wrexham fans, with many calling for him to be handed a starting berth in the league.

Elsewhere, former Premier League forward Jay Rodriguez left a promotion-chasing Burnley to link up with the Red Dragons.

Meanwhile, a number of Wrexham players departed the Racecourse Ground before the close of the winter window on February 3rd.

Ryan Reynolds reacts as released Wrexham player Anthony Forde joins Burton Albion

They had a very quiet deadline day but Wrexham agreed to let Anthony Forde leave by mutual consent right before the window shut.

Forde joined the Welsh outfit from Oxford United in 2022 but after being ommited from the League One squad in the first half of 2024/25, found game time hard to come by.

The 31-year-old has now joined Burton Albion this week, with Rob McElhenney sending a message about Forde right after the deal was confirmed.

The player himself has since taken to Instagram to comment on his move, writing: “Delighted to sign for @officialburtonalbion cannot wait to get going now.”

Now, Ryan Reynolds and several Wrexham players have taken to the comment section of that post to pen message to their former teammate.

Reynolds commented three hearts and one fire emoji, Mark Howard wrote: “Fordey boy,” followed by three claps, Thomas O’Connor added: “Hon ya boy ya,” Andy Cannon said: “Love it mate,” Modu Faal added: “my brudda,” while the likes of Ryan Barnett, Elliot Lee, and Ollie Rathbone also penned messages.

Wrexham players out of contract in 2025

Forde had his cotnract cancelled early so he could find a new team and there are a number of other Wrexham players who could still be released in 2025.

Steven Fletcher is in the final six months of his contract and the 37-year-old is unlikley to be offered a new deal.

Goalkeeper Mark Howard will also be a free-agent as things stand, while Wrexham need to give Harry Ashfield a cotnract or lose him for nothing at the end of June.

Josh Adam, Brad Foster and Liam Hall could leave for free in 2025 as well but the club have one-year extension options on the trio.
