Ahead of Wrexham’s clash with Sheffield Wednesday, Owls boss Henrik Pedersen has revealed that he is a huge fan of Phil Parkinson.
Wrexham will host Sheffield Wednesday this weekend, where both sides will hope to notch their first win of the Championship season.
The pressure is on Wrexham to beat Sheffield Wednesday, a beleaguered side who have been put through the wringer this summer with an accumulation of issues, both on and off the pitch.
Sheffield Wednesday fans will protest against Dejphon Chansiri, the Owls owner, by vocalising their displeasure towards the boss.
In what has been a difficult few months for the Owls, steering the ship is new Sheffield Wednesday boss Henrik Pedersen, who has taken up from Danny Rohl.
It is a challenging period for the club, but Pedersen is optimistic about this weekend’s tie, as well as the prospect of being pitted against Phil Parkinson, who he has ‘big respect’ for.

Henrik Pedersen praises Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson
Ahead of Wrexham welcoming Sheffield Wednesday, Owls boss Henrik Pedersen has faced the media, where he has expressed his excitement to face off against Phil Parkinson.
Speaking to the media, Pedersen said: “First of all, I have a big, big respect for the manager. How he put a team together and how everyone in the team has a big clarity of the job description that they have.”
Pedersen then discussed the ambition shown by the club to make several signings, and they have significantly improved during the summer transfer window.
“They have a very strong team,” Pedersen continued. “They have bought a lot of new players with big quality. So, it’s going to be a big challenge for us, but a challenge we are really looking forward to, and to see where we are in relation to a team like Wrexham.”
Sheffield Wednesday suffered defeat in their season opener against Leicester City, falling to a late 2-1 defeat on the road, and that was followed up by a difficult home display against a relentless Stoke City side, losing 3-0 at Hillsborough Stadium.

Wrexham’s record vs Sheffield Wednesday
Wrexham will come up against Sheffield Wednesday for the first time in 19 years, having most recently played the South Yorkshire club in 2006 in the League Cup.
The past three outings have sparked a variety of scorelines, with Wrexham winning the previous bout between the two 4-1 at Hillsborough Stadium, but the two prior in League One saw Sheffield Wednesday win on both occasions, with the Red Dragons losing 3-0 at home before suffering a 4-0 defeat on their travels.
Despite Sheffield Wednesday’s previous luck in the league against Wrexham, the pressure will be on the Red Dragons to come away with a win at the Racecourse Ground.
It has been a difficult period for Sheffield Wednesday, and Wrexham need to capitalise on that by notching their first league win of the season.
