Wrexham have had a busy 2025 so far, including making some new signings ahead of their first game in the Championship.

Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward have joined Wrexham in recent weeks, the latter for free and the striker for £700,000.

More incomings are expected despite the club currently being away on their 2025 pre-season tour.

Manager Phil Parkinson suggested signings could travel out to Australia in order to complete moves in the next nine days.

Two players are the ‘closest’ to signing for Wrexham, but they are currently away on their own pre-season tours.

Meanwhile, another 2025 arrival has now explained why he opted to join the Red Dragons this year.

Why Ryan Longman signed for Wrexham

After a fairly slow start, the Welsh club ended up making three new signings in the winter transfer window.

Sam Smith became the new record arrival at just over £2m, while Jay Rodriguez joined on the same day for free.

Elsewhere, Wrexham paid £500,000 for Ryan Longman, who arrived with Championship experience after a stint with Hull City.

Now, as per Leader Live, Longman has explained why he opted to drop down to League One and sign.

He said: “I really enjoyed the summer. Obviously it helps when you have had a promotion so it was enjoyable.

“A lot of players can go through their whole careers without a promotion so I’m happy to experience it.

“That’s why I came in. I believed in the project, I believed we could get promotion.

“It wasn’t ideal me dropping down to League One but I fell in love with the club, I fell in love with the idea and it was the perfect move.”
