Wrexham’s 1-0 victory over Wycombe has once again put them on the brink of a historic third successive promotion.
Phil Parkinson’s side were hoping Steve Evans could do Wrexham a favour by masterminding a win for his Rotherham side over rivals Wycombe however, the Chairboys produced a late show to win 3-2.
That result leaves Wrexham level on points in second place with Wycombe in the League One table and both sides have nine fixtures remaining.
The Red Dragons supporters know they are in for a nervy time from now until the end of the season but with Wrexham’s results so far this season, they are used to being on the edge of their seats until the last whistle.

Wrexham lead League One statistics in vital area
A win is a win in football and whilst teams would love to hammer home five goals every week, you get the same amount of points for a 5-0 win than you do a 1-0 win.
This season has rarely seen Wrexham blow away teams and Parkinson’s men have often had to grind results out in order to secure victory.
Parkinson has often praised the resilience of his Wrexham squad this campaign and the club currently have won more games than any other side by a one goal margin.
| League One club | Number of wins by a one goal margin |
| Wrexham | 15 |
| Birmingham | 14 |
| Charlton | 14 |
| Wycombe | 12 |
It shows the perilous situation that the Red Dragons find themselves in, nothing is guaranteed at this level and Wrexham will have to fight all the way to the end in order to secure promotion.
Parkinson sent a strong message to the dressing room after their victory at Wycombe and he will know that games and seasons can turn on any given moment throughout a campaign.
Wrexham’s one goal wins often thanks to Steven Fletcher
A win is never down to just one player and the whole Wrexham squad have played their part to put themselves in the position they are in however, Steven Fletcher has produced many magic moments this season.
Fletcher has the most goals as a substitute this season and has produced winning goals on countless occasions for the Red Dragons, most recently in the 1-0 win at Huddersfield.

Sam Smith credited Fletcher for his part in the winning goal at Wycombe and it seems the veteran Scottish international has the ability to produce when it is needed for Wrexham in this campaign.
How many more pivotal moments he can provide remains to be seen but Parkinson knows he always has that trump card to play when matches are tight and in the balance.
