Ben Tozer had a lot to say about Max Cleworth earlier this year and Wrexham should now be wary of his comments.
Ben Tozer joined Wrexham from Cheltenham Town in August 2021 for a fee of around £190,000.
The 34-year-old went on to have a prolific stint at the Racecourse Ground, making 131 appearances, scoring seven goals and assisting one.
Tozer was a crucial player for Wrexham during their rise from the National League all the way up to League One.
But the Red Dragons released the central defender, along with several other players, during the summer of 2024.
Tozer has since linked up with Forest Green Rovers and is excelling in 2024/25, making 20 appearances and helping the club boast the best defensive record in the National League.
Shortly after leaving Wrexham, Tozer gave a verdict on Max Cleworth which is now looking spot-on six months down the line.

What Ben Tozer said about Wrexham defender Max Cleworth
During his time in Wales, Tozer played a number of games alongside Cleworth in the club’s back-three.
The 22-year-old made 24 League Two appearances last season and though an important player, was nowhere near as good as he is right now.
However, Tozer clearly saw the huge potential in his defensive partner as when speaking back in June, he tipped Cleworth to play Premier League football.
Tozer said: “I think Max has gotten Premier League written all over him.
“But it’s whether he wants to go to the Premier League now, and not play because realistically he’s not going to start, but to be fair he might.
“Or does he stay with Wrexham, go all the way up through to the Premier League and possibly captain the club and go that route?
“He’s got those two options at his disposal, and he’s still only 21.”

Wrexham sent Max Cleworth transfer warning
Cleworth has started 16 league matches already in 2024/25, only missing four games due to injury.
During the 2024/25 campaign, the Chester-born star has proven Tozer’s prediction to be so spot-on.
Cleworth has been nominated for League One POTM for November and has been one of his clubs’s most consistent players.
His excellent form even saw Wrexham sent a Cleworth transfer warning this season and with the January transfer window now fast approaching, Phil Parkins should be wary of the player receiving transfer interest from clubs in higher divisions.
It’s obvious, as Tozer claimed, that the centre-back is destined for big things, but whether or not that is with Wrexham or somebody else remains to be seen.
