Wrexham are preparing to welcome Sheffield Wednesday in another huge clash in the Championship.
Phil Parkinson’s side are without a point from their opening two games despite some positive signs that the Red Dragons can compete well at this level.
Josh Windass is ruled out for several weeks and he joins Jay Rodriguez and Andy Cannon as long-term absentees for Wrexham.
It means that Windass misses out on the opportunity to face his former club and the 32-year-old is not the only player from Wednesday that Shaun Harvey tried to lure to North Wales.

What happened to Michael Smith after long-term interest from Wrexham
Wrexham have been looking to bolster their options in attack this summer and have already signed the likes of Ryan Hardie and Windass.
It was the same scenario for Parkinson last summer, however, the Red Dragons did not have as much success and left themselves a little short up top in the first half of the season.
A player they tried to sign last summer was Michael Smith from Sheffield Wednesday – a player tailor-made for Parkinson’s style with his aerial ability.
Harvey tried to sign Smith in January as Wrexham returned for the striker, however, all efforts were thwarted.
Smith eventually left Sheffield Wednesday this summer after terminating his contract amid the club’s financial crisis.
Wrexham will play against the 33-year-old forward this season after he joined Championship rivals Preston on a free transfer.
Wrexham signed Kieffer Moore as their Michael Smith alternative
With Ollie Palmer set to leave Wrexham this summer, Parkinson wanted a player like Smith to be the focal point of his attack.
Wrexham signed Kieffer Moore from Sheffield United and the Wales international has quickly settled into the role as the leader of the attack.
| Championship records | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| Kieffer Moore | 202 | 59 | 16 |
| Michael Smith | 163 | 30 | 11 |
Moore has played more games in the second tier than Smith, producing 29 more goals and five more assists during his performances.
Although Wrexham were admirers of Smith for a long time, they can be pretty content knowing that they held out for the better option in the end.
