Wrexham go into their next Championship fixture with some injury concerns to deal with.

It has been a winless start to the campaign for Phil Parkinson and Co. in the second tier of English football.

On the back of a penalty shoot-out win against Hull City in the Carabao Cup, Wrexham lost to West Brom last Saturday.

They are not in midweek action, though loanee Paul Mullin has been criticised for his latest Wigan Athletic outing against Luton Town on Tuesday.

Attention has now turned towards the Sheffield Wednesday fixture, which kicks off at 3pm BST on Saturday, August 23.

Ahead of that tie, Parkinson has given updates on a number of Wrexham players.

Wrexham injury update for Sheffield Wednesday

Josh Windass suffered an injury during the defeat to West Brom last time out.

Parkinson has since provided a Windass update, saying that the attacking midfielder will be sidelined for four to six weeks, meaning he may not return until a clash with Derby County on September 27.

As well as the former Sheffield Wednesday ace, two more players are out of action ‘longer term’, Parkinson has confirmed.

He said, as per Leader Live: “Obviously Jay [Rodriguez] and Andy [Cannon] are longer term.

“We’ve had a bit of disruption but it’s the same at other clubs.

“It’s just making sure we don’t get too down about that and deal with it because we’ve got good players ready to step in.

“The depth of the squad is key.”

Wrexham face striker issue ahead of Sheffield Wednesday

In the opening two league games of the season, Wrexham have used Windass just behind Kieffer Moore.

However, Parkinson will have to find a new striker partner for the former Sheffield United hitman moving forward.

Nathan Broadhead has been praised for his finishing this week, but the recent signing missed a good chance against West Brom on his debut.

Rodriguez won’t be an option against the Owls, leaving Broadhead, Ryan Hardie and Sam Smith to battle it out for a place in the eleven.
