Ben Davies has made his first appearance after holding talks with Wrexham over a transfer.

Wrexham links to Ben Davies emerged late last month, with the defender set to become a free agent at the end of June.

Davies would be a major signing for the Dragons, who are preparing to compete in the second tier of English football for the first time since the 1980s.

He is leaving Spurs on the back of helping the club win their first major piece of silverware in over a decade.

The defender is not the only Premier League player of interest to Wrexham, and we learned this week that Davies talks have been held – though nothing is advanced at this stage – while contracts have been offered to Craig Dawson and Aaron Cresswell.

Now, the soon-to-be ex-Tottenham ace has been in action for his country this week.

How Welsh media reacted to Ben Davies performance for Wales vs Liechtenstein

Wales were in World Cup qualifying action on Friday evening, taking on Liechtenstein at the Cardiff City Stadium.

It was a productive night for Craig Bellamy’s side, with Wrexham native Harry Wilson getting himself on the scoresheet.

Joe Rodon and Kieffer Moore were the other goalscorers on the day, handing Wales a comfortable 3-0 win to keep them top of Group J.

As for Davies, he started as the left-sided centre-back in a back four, completing the full 90 minutes.

Welsh outlet Y Clwb Pêl-droed have since released their ratings for the tie, giving the stopper a 7/10 and writing: “The skipper led his side to another three points and a clean sheet, edging closer to his 100th cap for the nation, a player destined to be remembered as one of the greats.”

What Ben Davies has said about his future

Prior to lining up for Wales on May 6, Davies commented on his future beyond Tottenham.

He said: “I don’t think there is anything to update to be honest, I don’t think I am going to be the person who is making any of those decisions, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s full focus here this week.”

Davies takes home £80,000-a-week in North London right now.

Another Wrexham target Danny Ward, started on the bench for Wales on June 6.
