James McClean was visibly angry at full-time of Wrexham’s 1-1 draw against Birmingham City on Friday night.
Wrexham put another point on the board on Friday night as they drew 1-1 with Birmingham City in the Championship, with George Dobson on target for the Dragons.
But Phil Parkinson’s side once again miss the chance to put their first home league win of the season on the board.
Last weekend, Wrexham took the lead against Derby County before drawing 1-1, followed up by a 1-1 draw away at Leicester City in midweek, and then the Birmingham City game where Wrexham had the lead at half-time.
Birmingham City were much better in the second half. Despite that, Wrexham were attacking late on and as James McClean had the ball in the Blues half, the referee blew for full-time.

James McClean furious as referee blew full-time on Wrexham 1-1 Birmingham City
Birmingham City came out strong in the second half and within minutes they had an equaliser, with Patrick Roberts slotting past Arthur Okonkwo in the Wrexham goal.
Chris Davies’ side looked like scoring a second too. But Wrexham grew back into the game as it drew towards its conclusion and substitute McClean was advancing with the ball into Birmingham City’s half, as the end of five minutes’ added time approached.
But rather abruptly, referee Robert Madley blew for full-time. Wrexham looked as though they had time for a final attack but as the whistle blew, McClean was visibly furious with the decision, throwing his arms in the air in protest.
Wrexham vs Birmingham City stats, was a draw fair?
Wrexham and Birmingham City play two different styles: Parkinson’s style of play at Wrexham is much more direct in his approach whereas Davies seems to favour the build-up play.
And that showed in the possession stats with Birmingham City dominating that, and also the number of passes too.
But Wrexham had the same amount of clear-cut chances and even more shots, with James Beadle in the Birmingham City goal making more saves on the night.
| Statistic | Wrexham | Birmingham City |
| Possession | 42% | 58% |
| xG | 1.74 | 1.36 |
| Big chances | 2 | 2 |
| Total shots | 12 | 8 |
| Goalkeeper saves | 2 | 3 |
In fairness, if either side had won it, it may have been a fair outcome. Both looked like scoring a second goal and so a draw is probably the fairest outcome.
Wrexham return to action against Stoke City after the international break.
