Paul Mullin has quickly lost favour with Wigan Athletic fans over the last week.

The Wrexham forward was sent out on loan to the North West outfit for the 2025/26 season.

After 196 days, Paul Mullin scored his first competitive goal last week when Wigan Athletic beat Notts County in the Carabao Cup.

Wigan fans praised Mullin at the time, suggesting he was ‘like a new player’.

However, the sentiment toward the Wrexham loanee was quickly changed this week.

Wigan fans slammed Mullin during the Luton Town defeat on August 19, suggesting he was a ‘waste of space’ and that they ‘don’t think he’s good enough at all’.

Ryan Lowe responds to fans after Paul Mullin criticised

Now, manager Ryan Lowe has responded to fans who were critical of his team selection and certain players on Tuesday.

Wrexham fans sent their support to Mullin amid the criticism he has received this week.

And, as per Wigan Today, Lowe has urged supporters to ‘have a bit of pride and consideration’ for his players.

He said: “I know one or two [fans] will maybe moan over team selections or personnel or whatever, that’s fine, it’s their club, they’ve got a right to do that, but do have a bit of pride and consideration for the boys because they’ve worked their socks off.”

When will Paul Mullin return to Wrexham

Mullin is only at Wigan on loan, and if all goes as planned, he will remain there until the close of the 2025/26 season.

The striker will still have one year left on his Wrexham contract after the current campaign draws to a close.

Details of Mullin’s loan to Wigan were reported on after he moved, and it’s understood he can be recalled by the Dragons during the 2026 January transfer window.

Whether that happens remains to be seen, especially as he’s yet to score in League One this season.
