Paul Mullin made his first competitive appearance since leaving Wrexham on Saturday.
Wrexham are still a week away from getting their Championship season underway.
But Paul Mullin, who has signed for League One side Wigan Athletic on loan, has begun his 2025/26 campaign.
After losing favour with Phil Parkinson, the 30-year-old decided to remain in the third tier for another season and link up with the Latics.
Wigan clashed with Northampton Town on August 2, and Mullin featured in the tie.

Ryan Lowe on Paul Mullin miss for Wigan Athletic
Mullin did not start for Wigan against Northampton despite being used heavily in their pre-season.
But the Wrexham loanee did come off the bench in the 84th minute when his new side were already 3-1 up.
He only touched the ball on four occasions but had a great chance to score late in the tie.
However, Mullin put his effort straight at the opposition goalkeeper, and manager Ryan Lowe has now commented on his players missing chances on Saturday, including the Wrexham man.
He said, as per Wigan Today: “We could have scored even more goals…Dara’s one, I thought he could have chested it, but he’s headed it, and he’s got too much on it if anything.
“That’s what he gets for getting his hair cut on a Thursday…he should have left it growing!
“But the main thing is he’s in those positions to begin with, and everyone can miss a chance no matter who you are.
“Mulls said the ball just got stuck under his feet at the end, but as long as we’re creating chances, the goals will come – as we saw today.”

Wrexham set to sign striker
Wrexham’s frontline looks a lot different going into their 2025/26 campaign.
Josh Windass scored on his debut this weekend, playing just behind another new addition, Ryan Hardie.
And more attacking reinforcements are arriving at the Racecourse Ground in the near future.
It has been reported over the weekend that Kieffer Moore is undergoing his Wrexham medical ahead of completing a £2m move from Sheffield United.
