Lewis Brunt made his second League One start of the season when Wrexham beat Lincoln City on Tuesday.

The Red Dragons faced off with Lincoln City in midweek, aiming to keep their unbeaten home record intact.

In the end, despite a fairly cagey affair with Phil Parkinson’s side not at their best, Wrexham beat Lincoln City 1-0.

The Welsh side remain second in the division and now have a week off due to the FA Cup taking place this weekend.

A number of players were in top form against Lincoln, with James McClean playing a crucial role in the win.

George Dobson deserves praise after Wrexham vs Lincoln for his starring display as a 10.

Elsewhere in midfield, Matty James showed exactly why Phil Parkinson signed him after what he did against the Imps.

Wrexham fans say same thing about Lewis Brunt after Lincoln City

Another star who shone during the clash in midweek was centre-back, Lewis Brunt.

The stopper was afforded just his second start of the season after excelling versus Exeter City on Saturday and was once again in top form against Lincoln.

After the match, Wrexham legend Andy Morrell took to X/Twitter to dub the summer signing ‘exceptional’.

Wrexham fans are in full agreement with Morrell and have also taken to social media to praise Brunt.

One fan wrote: “What a player Lewis Brunt is so pleased for him,” with a second adding: “Lewis Brunt put in on the pitch since getting the time to show it. Well done to him!”

Another supporter stated: “Lewis Brunt. That’s the tweet,” followed by a clapping emoji.

A fourth fan wrote: “And what about Lewis Brunt though. Last two games he’s been incredible. Could arguably be the best defender we have at the club.”

“Lewis Brunt is a gem in my eyes by the way. Class on and off the ball,” another said.

A sixth claimed: “Someone dial 999, Lewis Brunt has been robbed of Man of the Match! Outstanding.”

With a seventh Wrexham fan adding: “So many positives there today mate. Lewis Brunt looked like he had been at Wrexham for years.”

Lewis Brunt Wrexham transfer claim

The 24-year-old joined Wrexham from Leicester City over the summer, eyeing more senior football after playing just four times for the Foxes.

Brunt struggled for game time with the Red Dragons in the early stages of the season but has now firmly cemented himself as a regular starter under Parkinson.

Prior to the Welsh side securing the centre-back, Wrexham fought off competition to sign Brunt, with Phil Parkinson recently detailing their transfer pursuit.

He said: “We fought off a lot of clubs to bring Brunty here but we’ve got a very good defensive record ourselves, so he’s had to be patient.

“We felt the time was right to play him. He’s done well in the cup games and I think everybody saw what he was all about today. He was dominant in the air, stepped in, got tight to their number 10 on that side and played really, really well.”
